Creating a transfer guide takes several steps. First view and print the General Education Requirements for Bachelor Degrees. You can fill the general education categories using the provided course list. Next, select your program of study. Students transferring from Moraine Valley will primarily focus on the “Bachelor” level degrees. Select from Applied Science, Arts, Integrative Studies, Science, or Social Work. View the Transfer Credit Policy. Note that Iowa State University accepts grades of “D,” however, some departments may require a “C” or higher in select courses as graduation requirements for your major.
Iowa State uses a Transfer Credit Equivalency system called TRANSIT. Once you have created an account (or used the time-limited guest feature), you can enter courses you have completed at Moraine Valley and other colleges into TRANSIT. Select “Next” if you wish to add degrees you have completed. Otherwise, select “Transfer Evaluation.” This will return a table with equivalencies. Once you have your equivalencies, you can choose to run a degree audit on your intended major. Unfortunately, there is no general list available to students to see how all courses from Moraine Valley will transfer to Iowa State. To create a transfer guide for the University of Iowa, first select your program of study. You can scroll down the page to see if there are any specific “Transfer Requirements.” For most majors, you can select the “General Catalog” Link on the right-side menu. This page will display a list of required courses for your major. There may be a separate link for the general education requirements for each academic department (business, liberal arts, etc). Once you have your list of required courses, you can use the Transfer Institution Search to translate Iowa courses into Moraine Valley course codes. Select Moraine Valley from the “transfer institution” list. Then select your major’s department from the “UI College” list. You can then select “all courses” in that department or filter by subject.
